Ryan Turner was one of the brightest talents in the Texas scene back in the day. He cut his teeth at the same Cheatham Street open mics as Randy Rogers and ultimately delivered a slew of radio hits before taking a step back from his career. His unique ability to have a smooth sound surrounded by just enough rough edges to make him dangerous has only gotten better over the years. Turner’s chops at one time took him to Nashville where he made enough buzz to join the prestigious Sunday Night Songwriter show at The Bluebird Cafe. During his time in Music City, Turner interned with the CMA and saw the belly of the beast from the inside out. He carried that experience and wisdom with him back to Texas where he put it to use catapulting himself to the top of the Texas scene in the mid 00’s. Turner stepped away from full-time music, yet he’s never fully put the guitar down and in fact has joined us at several GW events over the years. He was at Greenfest the night of the infamous Eady into the river experiment. This year, he’ll be joining his Coryell County buddy Clayton Landua in a sure to be memorable River Jam set.
