I’ve been honored and blessed to be asked by Mattson Rainer to come shoot the breeze with him on his radio station, 92.1 KNBT-FM Radio New Braunfels three years in a row now. It’s not something I take lightly. Few people support and love music as much as Mattson. He created an Americana institution before that label was even applied to music. He was my beacon while a listener in college and I’ve been humbled to end up calling him a friend. Crafting a playlist to present on live radio podcast style isn’t easy. At least not for me. I’m the type of person that frets over what to play on a car ride; so knowing I’m broadcasting worldwide heaps on the pressure. But, as an experienced TouchTune bar dominator I know which direction I want to take things. The interesting thing about Turntables are the parameters. Basically, you must have a reason (silly or profound) for playing the song and it must (even if loosely) fit in the confines of the KNBT sound. Below you will find what I’ve done the past two years. Please tune in tonight at 6pm to see what I play this year and see what stories Mattson and I kick around. It truly is like a live podcast of the two biggest music fans you’ll ever meet.
