From pushing their own piano down Duval to make a windswept gig on Sunset Pier in the middle of the day to headlining the Amp and having their name in the biggest font, it’s been a wild three years for Red Clay Strays.
When they first arrived at Mile 0 in 2022, Brandon Coleman remarked that they barely had enough money to eat McDonald’s. They had some buzz but most festival goers had no idea who they were. A hot set at the Smokin’ Tuna changed that narrative quickly. Those lucky enough to be there were immediate believers. A cold front arrived that next day and made their performance a freezing marker of time. There is Red Clay before that Sunset Pier performance of 2022 and Red Clay after that Sunset Pier performance of 2022.
It was a launching pad that set the band on a steady climb to the top of the music industry. A smash hit viral song. A slew of new songs written by Drew Nix and Matthew Coleman that have latched onto the consciousness of listeners around the globe. Arena tours. Award nominations. Biggest font on the poster. And from McDonalds to lobster.
Red Clay Strays returned to Mile 0 Fest 2025 as conquering heroes. Brandon Coleman and John Hall have always put on a show of the highest order. Coleman evoking Elvis. Hall nodding to John Bonham. Their intensity is effortless.
On an unusually cold and windy night in the Keys that found wind chills dipping into the lower 40s, the Red Clay Strays took themselves back to Sunset Pier spirit and delivered a 20 song showcase of their mastery. These Bama boys are on top and going to stay there for a while. Mile 0 Fest is home and it showed.
