{Face the Music} November 2, 2005

ello again my friends, it’s the newest edition of Face the Music – the weekly article that highlights a few shows from the past week, provides you with a heads up for CD releases, updates you with life events for band members and the Galleywinter family, and gives you a glimpse of upcoming events in the Texas/Red Dirt Music scene. Check back each week to keep up with the dirt in and around the scene!

Shows in Review: Micky & The Motorcars were joined by a few special guests during their show in Fort Worth last Saturday night. Luckily, there were plenty of Galleyfolk in attendance to share what they remember about that night with us.

95.9 The Ranch threw a listener appreciation party last week and they invited a lot of great Texas artists to play! You can read the review and see the pictures from Ranch Bash 2005 here.

Upcoming Events: Mike Eli of the Eli Young Band is playing an acoustic set at Humphrey’s in Huntsville, TX tonight. You can see Mike backed by the full band on Thursday in Corpus, Friday in Ennis and Saturday at the Texas Country Music Festival in Round Rock.

Aaron Watson will be at Gilleys in Dallas this Friday night before heading to New Braunfels on Saturday for a performance at Gruene Hall.

Josh Grider returns to George’s Bar this Saturday for a post-Baylor/UT show.

The First annual Texas Country Music Festival is this Saturday, November 5th in Round Rock, TX. This year’s performers include Cooder Graw, Pauline Reese, Eli Young Band, Stoney Larue, The Great Divide, Roger Creager & Cory Morrow.

If you can’t make it to Round Rock on Saturday for the Festival, you can still see some of the artists in the Fort Worth area on Friday night. Cory Morrow returns to Billy Bobs while Stoney Larue plays at Woody’s Tavern.

Brandon Rhyder is all over Texas this week beginning TONIGHT with a show in Austin. He’s heading to Corpus on Thursday, and finishing up with a show in Houston on Friday!

The Clubhouse Concert Series at the White Elephant Saloon continues this week with Brandon Jenkins & Soupbone. In honor of Brandon Jenkins and his 30+ tattoos, show your tattoo at the door and get in for just $5.00. That’s $5 off the standard cover charge! A night of great company and even better music for $5.00 may just be the best deal in Fort Worth! If you’re in the area on Sunday night, head over to the Stockyards to see Miss Joni and the Clubhouse Girls.

Roger Creager and Brandon Jenkins will be on The Front Porch with Justin Frazell this Sunday from 6-9 PM. If you’re in the Dallas area, tune your radio to 99.5 FM or you can also listen online at 995thewolf.com!

The Dirt: Peter Dawson was selected out of literally THOUSANDS of artists to be one of four featured artists on BMI.com’s sixth Podcast. His song, “Take Me Home,” that he wrote with Drew Kennedy, is now downloadable from the homepage of BMI. There’s some neat bio information, a picture, and a bit of a contest going. Whoever wins gets a pretty cool deal. Go to http://music.bmi.com/podcast/200511/ to listen to the song, and vote for Peter!

Just for fun: Just a few links to point you in the direction of additional resources or cool threads – on Galleywinter and beyond… One of the popular threads this week talks about the music that has been influential in shaping our lives. Check it out and let us know what songs are important to you.

The Clubhouse Girls work hard every week to bring the Fort Worth area together on Sunday nights for dinner and a great acoustic music set. Check out ClubhouseConcerts.com to see what Amy, Emily, Joni, Allene, and Megan have in the works for the Texas Music Scene.

Hi just wanted to give you a quick heads up and let you know a few of the images aren’t loading properly.
I’m not sure why but I think its a linking issue. I’ve tried it in two different internet browsers and both show the same outcome.
