{New Braunfels} Artist Spotlight: Devil’s Hollow

Devil’s Hollow is a dry creek bed in north-western Comal County hanging off the Guadalupe River west of Canyon Lake. A road sign pointing toward Devil’s Hollow fell on front man Justin Murray’s eyes at just the right time one night when he was headed home after a gig and booking another gig over the phone. He went with it, figuring he could come up with something else later. Several years later, Devil’s Hollow Trio (as it was known then) is staffed with six heavy hitters that have varied connecting ties back to previous (and current) other bands, all of

{New Braunfels} Kori Free & The Groove Hounds Tribute to Heart

Tonight is FINALLY the night that Kori Free & The Groove Hounds get to lay it all on the stage and do a tribute show that is a decade in the making! Kori has been a huge Nancy Wilson/Heart fan for 10 years and is a personal friend of Nancy. In fact, Nancy gave Kori a custom built Epiphone Les Paul back in 2010 to help get Kori to the next level, and you’ll definitely see Kori playing it tonight at The Brauntex Theatre in New Braunfels so you can see how much Kori has far exceeded that next level! Kori,

{New Braunfels} Blowin’ Off Steamboat Music Festival 3

3 years ago the TX Citizen and myself (Music of New Braunfels) put together a music festival at Freiheit Country  Store in New Braunfels. We decided to do it all over again in January 2014, and this time took all the proceeds and donated them to the leash free dog park that opened later in

{New Braunfels} Artist Spotlight: Smoke Wagon

Like many bands, I’ve been trying to see Smoke Wagon perform live for quite some time. I finally had the opportunity to see them last Friday at Billy D’s in Universal City. The acoustics weren’t optimal, but the sound was well balanced and filled the oddly arranged room well. Smoke Wagon plays primarily Texas Country and Red Dirt tunes from the more popular bands of the last decade, and they do this very well. With highly capable musicians in all corners and the recent addition of a clasically trained violinist turned fiddle queen, it really rounds out their sound and

{New Braunfels} Video: GREENFEST 14

It’s no surprise that GREENFEST 14 was an incredible day, it was put together by people that love what many of us love; good music.  It’s been a week since it ended, and I still have nothing to say other than WOW.  As good as many previous years have probably been, GREENFEST 13 was my first year to attend.  My friends at Galleywinter asked me to help promote the event and I was more than happy to, but once the day was upon us I did what I always do, went into low-budget photography mode.  Here’s what my iPhone and
