Today in Music
One day like today...
2001
The new Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum opened it's doors in downtown Nashville.

1999
No Doubt sues Carlsbad, Calif.-based clothing manufacturer No Fear, claiming that clothing items bearing the "No Doubt" name infringe on the group's copyrighted service mark, which the band uses on its own merchandise.

1980
Drummer Peter Criss leaves Kiss for the first time.

1974
Ray Stevens hits #1 across the board with his goofy take on the 70's phenomenon streaking. Appropriately enough, the song was called "The Streak"

Pardon my ignorance but what does ACL stand for? Austin City Limits? Or?

I would love to scoop the bloggers on three of those names:
could I ask to see your sources or info about Green Day, RRB & Wilco??
the others you list ARE confirmed, the complete confirmed list thus far is

* Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers
* The Flaming Lips
* Ben Harper
* John Mayer
* Los Lonely Boys
* Massive Attack
* Matisyahu
* The Shins
* Iron and Wine
* The New Pornographers
* Ben Kweller
* Son Volt
* Matt Nathanson
* K.T.Tunstall
* Asleep at the Wheel
* Jimmy Dale Gilmore
* The Subdudes
* Sleepy Wonder
* The Greencards
* Kasey Chambers
* Robyn Ludwick
* Buckwheat Zydeco
* Melissa Reaves
* Eli Young Band
* Elvis Perkins
as per
aclfest2006rumors.blogspot.com/
&
aclrumors.com/groupee
the two sources beyond the official PBS site & scavenger hunt contest which have proven themselves to have the best information
more are being revealed each day & the rest of official list will be public by May 11th...

sure, I just love knowing everything - but this would be my fourth ACL fest & the GF's third & so we've been following this closely & participated in the scanvenger hunt contest etc...
but we're considering skipping this year & each tidbit of info helps us reach a decision
I love it & am leaning towards going back, she loves it too but is leaning towards doing something else instead like Winfield (Walnut Valley Festival which is once again the same weekend as ACL)

You know.... Green Day is the one I am skeptical about. There have been rumors and then it was seen on Pollstar, but they are not on tour at that time. It would be the coolest thing to see them at Zilker though.

your friend was lucky that $35 deal was impossible for most people
I think the 20 they had set aside at that price were sold before the PBS server had finished sending out the mail-list
seriously - whatever the thechnology is I know people who responded INSTANTLY & were shut out cause it was sold out.
it is well worth way more than they charge for it
although theyve gone a little too "modern rock" for my tastes lately it is one of the premiere music festivals in the country

I'd buy them now if I were you. They just keep going up from here on out unless you buy them from someone else. I plan on going this year too! Mr. Green

Thanks for the advice, I just hate to buy the passes before I get airfare figured out but I guess I could always sell them if I don't make it. At the $35 price, you could only buy 2 and the second one was promised to a friend flying in from Virginia....I'm still looking for other options!

Heather, I will see you in August and September! Mr. Green
