Island Time In Your Mind

Rivers have always been a bountiful subject for Texas songwriters…but a few have tackled a day at the beach too. Well, sort of. Even if they aren’t singing specifically about hanging out in the sand, there are several songs that transform your mood to that of an island getaway just by their vibe. Some guys like Larry Joe Taylor have even made a career out of writing songs about island life. Spring break got us to thinking about some of our favorite songs that get us in a coastal frame of mind. The ones we could find YouTube videos for are at the bottom.

If we missed yours, add it in the comments!

Owen Temple-Wanna Wanna Bar, Phil Pritchett-Feeling Port Aransas, Cross Canadian Ragweed/Mike McClure-Down at the Harbor, Randy Rogers Band-Copano Bay, Drew Kennedy-Baytown…and pretty much every Larry Joe Taylor song ever recorded.

Robert Earl Keen-Corpus Christi Bay

Hayes Carll-Highway 87

Gary P. Nunn-Corona Con Lima

Max Stalling-Bass Run

Jack Ingram-Barefoot and Crazy

The Great Divide-Pour Me a Vacation

Rich O’ Toole-Summertime
