Greenfest Artist Preview: Waylon Payne

Waylon Payne is a bit of an enigma.  Despite producing what this website termed the best album of the 00’s with The Drifter, having his songs cut by many other artists and a scene-stealing role as Jerry Lee Lewis in the Walk the Line film, hailing from country music royalty and owning a voice that can rattle your soul to the core…Payne still cuts a mysterious path.  He gigs sporadically.  He hasn’t released any new music in years.  It’s almost as if he’s Willis Alan Ramsey 2.0.  All of that is said to stress how stoked we are that Waylon Payne will be a part of Greenfest 14!  The lineup we’ve assembled to play for you on a Sunday next to the Guadalupe River is second to none.  Make no mistake that this will be church…Payne’s performance alone would assure that.
